In post-independence India, primary education did not receive due importance. As a result of this, even after fiftyeight years we have a poor infrastructure in this vital area of human resource development. Charutar Vidya Mandal has established the PTC College which aims at building a cadre of well-trained primary teachers for Gujarati and English-medium primary schools all over Gujarat. Teaching of Gujarati, English, Hindi and Sanskirt languages and Social Studies, Mathematics and Science, Computer and Preparing teaching-learning material, School management and administration, Trends and problems of primary education and Practice teaching comprise the two-year course structure. The college has a well-stocked library with a rich collection of books and periodicals, both specialised and general. The college is recognized by both Government of Gujarat and NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education).
With wellfurnished classrooms and other facilities like a language laboratory, computer laboratory, a psychology laboratory, equipments for sports and music etc., the institution is a leading college of education in Western India.
